The organic sector in the Middle East is developing rapidly, with consumption of organic food and beverages increasing by more than 60% in the last 5 years. Fueled by a constantly growing population, the GCC countries are estimated to import more than 70% – 90% of their food requirements. Saudi Arabia, as one of the largest countries in the MENA region, is investing heavily in developing the organic sector – from rural production to the consumer – and identifies it as one of the keys to the future. Two special topics will be addressed: “Water” and “Organic Fertilizers”.
